One more story from the concert… the TBE choir sang a piece by a composer from Toronto. He’s apparently going to be a composer in residence with them next year. How cool is that?
The piece was in Hebrew, and I didn’t catch the name, but the cantor gave this basic translation: The more we study Torah or sacred texts, the deeper we go with Torah, the more there is learning, peace, joy and justice.
The recognition of that truth, in a room of people who hold some sacred texts in common and others not at all, was palpable.
